I thought accreditation was only recognized for higher education?
You’re right. The law limits recognition of accreditation to higher (post secondary) education. This means that accrediting agencies have decided on their own, without Department of Education recognition, to accredit primary and secondary schools.

What does accreditation mean?
If World Hope Academy is a high school (secondary education), and accrediting agencies do not have recognition to accredit high schools, why did World Hope Academy become accredited?
That’s a brilliant question. World Hope Academy became accredited since we want our standards and education to be accepted by post secondary schools (higher education) who are concerned about accepting our education and being able to receive financial aid on your behalf. World Hope Academy decided to have four independent accrediting agencies review our operations to assure the public that World Hope Academy met the accrediting agency’s independent guidelines.
Does accreditation guarantee acceptance of World Hope Academy credits?
No. There is not one school on this planet that can make such a statement. Why? Well, since schools set their own admission guidelines and there are thousands of schools, how can one high school guarantee the admission criteria of thousands of colleges and universities? The acceptance of credits is the decision of the receiving institution. Even the Department of education says that there is no guarantee.
What is the difference between regional accreditation and national accreditation?
Legally, none! They are both recognized legally by the U.S. Department of Education and CHEA. Any comment you hear is purely an opinion.

“The goal of accreditation is to ensure that education provided by institutions of
higher education meets acceptable levels of quality. Accrediting agencies, which
are private educational associations of regional or national scope, develop evaluation
criteria and conduct peer evaluations to assess whether or not those criteria are
met. Institutions and/or programs that request an agency's evaluation and that meet
an agency's criteria are then "accredited" by that agency.
The U.S. Department of
Education does not accredit educational institutions and/or programs. However, the
Secretary of Education is required by law to publish a list of nationally recognized
accrediting agencies that the Secretary determines to be reliable authorities as
to the quality of education or training provided by the institutions of higher education
and the higher education programs they accredit. The U.S. Secretary of Education
also recognizes State agencies for the approval of public postsecondary vocational
education and State agencies for the approval of nurse education.
The Secretary of
Education’s recognition of accrediting agencies is limited by statute to accreditation
activities within the United States. Although many recognized agencies carry out
accrediting activities outside the United States, these actions are not within the
legal authority of the Department of Education to recognize, are not reviewed by
the Department, and the Department does not exercise any oversight over them. Consequently,
institutions and programs outside the United States that are accredited by recognized
agencies are not included in the U.S. Department of Education Database of Accredited
Postsecondary Institutions and Programs.”

“Accreditation does not provide automatic acceptance by an institution of credit earned at another institution, nor does it give assurance of acceptance of graduates by employers. Acceptance of students or graduates is always the prerogative of the receiving institution or employer. For these reasons, besides ascertaining the accredited status of a school or program, students should take additional measures to determine, prior to enrollment, whether or not their educational goals will be met through attendance at a particular institution. These measures should include inquiries to institutions to which transfer might be desired or to prospective employers and, if possible, personal inspection of the institution at which enrollment is contemplated.”
